      1. By 1590s Daniel attained the patronage of mary, countess of Pembroke and dedicated the volume.
      2. Contains 50 sonnets (and a romance called The Complaint of Rosamond0:
        1. With the Complaint of Rosamond 1592 (dedicated to Mary)
        2. Daniel was appointed inspector of Kirkham’s children of the quuen’s revels. In this capacity, he wrote several dramatic works, including a masque: The Vision of the Twelve goddess (1604)
