William Drummond

William Drummond (1585-1649)

  1. Was born at Hawthornden Castle, Midlonthian in 1585. He was the son of John Drummond, first Laird owned of a large, long esbablished scottish estate of Hawthornden and his wife, Susannah Fowler Drummond. He attained Edinburgh High School and did his masters from Edinburgh University. Fond of reading, Drummond had a hugh collection of book, Drummond died in 1649.
  2. Works:
    1. Teares on the Death of Moeliads was published in 1613.
    2. Forth Feasting: A Panegyricke to the King’s Most Excellent Majestie (1617)  (written in heroic couplets and celebrated king James’s Visit to Scotland.)
