    4. Research Article/Academic Paper: A research paper written by a scholar. Can be based on Primary or Secondary data.

  2. Fundamental Research & Applied Research
    1. Fundamental Research: Conducted for formulating general or base theories and applied in general.
    2. Applied Research: Conducted to find specific solution of a particular problem.
  3. Structured Research & Unstructured Research
    1. Research objectives, design, sample are pre decided.
    2. Unstructured Research: flexibility in Research objectives, design etc.
  4. Conceptual Research & Empirical/Experimental Research
    1. Conceptual Research: To establish a concept or theory based on observation or intellect and not on experiment.
    2. Empirical Research/Experimental Research: Experiment to test relevance of Old theories or to provide base for new theories.
  5. Innovative Research & Incremental (Improve) Research
    1. Innovative Research: To innovate new technology or anything of value. Begins with hypothesis. Quantitative in nature.
    2. Incremental Research: Improvement of one existing thing. Begins with Research Question. Qualitative in nature.
  6. Descriptive Research & Analytical Research
    1. Descriptive Research: Describes, classifies, compares a problem, situation or phenomenon.
    2. Analytical Research: Finds the reason, explores the cause effect relationship.
  7. Deductive Research (general to specific) & Inductive Research (specific to general)
    1. Deductive Research: Aims at testing theory, a journey from general to specific.
    2. Inductive Research: Aims to formulate a theory, exploring new phenomenon, or reinterpreting existing theory. A Journey from Specific to General.
  8. Action Research: A research which is done to take action at the same time of the research.
  9. Ex-Facto Research
