Le Jeu d’Adam (The Play of Adam)

  1. Anglo Norman play written in Old French in 11th-12th Century.
  2. Semi-liturgical play, like mystery plays the story is from the Bible (both new and old Testament)
  3. Dramatises the fall of Adam and Eve, and the story of their children: Cain and Abel.
  4. The play is precursor to Old English Farce.

Sainte Resurrection (Resurrection of the Saviour)

  1. 12th Century incomplete play (only 522 lines remained) written in Anglo-Norman dialect.
  2. Deals with the burial and resurrection of Christ

Le Jeu de Saint Nicholas (The Play of St Nicholas)

  1. A Miracle play by Jean Bodel, performed in 1201.
  2. An important transitional work, as it combines elements of traditional miracle play with secularism.
